Matter Design began in 2001, and was incorporated as Matter International Design in 2003 as a partnership between Darren Jakal and Travis Colley. We have provided design consulting services to individuals and companies in the areas of medical, mental health, children's products, outdoor products, one-off industrial design solutions, furniture, project management, and technical advisory.

Matter proposed and managed Phase 2 of the Medical Product Development Program. The third phase of this successful program ran until 2013. We want to thank all applicants and participants of the program for their commitment to the sector.
